Featured Designer: Martha O'Hara

If you live in the midwest, there's a good chance you've heard of Martha O'Hara Interiors, a Minnesota based design firm that has been featured on Elle Decor's website along with other press and news media sites.

Of course Martha, like every noted interior designer, has a knack for turning the basic principles of design into her own signature style by putting her personal spin on each space she designs. What I most enjoy about Martha's designs though is her delicious use of textures and colors that create a natural and casual design with an elegant twist.

For more of Martha's designs check out the rest of her portfolio at http://www.oharainteriors.com/.

Featured Designer: Tobi Fairley

Tobi Fairley is probably one of the most noted designers in the design industry today. If you skim through the pages of House Beautiful, Traditional Home, Southern Living, or At Home you have more than likely seen her great work.

Below are a few of my favs from her portfolio.

If you dig her style, you can check out more of her work on her site at http://www.tobifairley.com/.

Spiritual Growth Class

Spiritual Growth Class Notes

Minister Jenkins

Malachi 3:10

Tithe is the first 10% ...not just 10%. One option for doing this is to have it come right out your check before you see it.

Tithe on gross or net - both are right. If you tithe on net though, if you get money back you should tithe off that return too.

Don't expect to be rewarded all the time for what you're supposed to do (e.g., kids doing well in school; you doing your job you were hired to do, etc.)

When you tithe you:

- Unlatch and open the window.

- He will rebuke the devourer from your finances.

God won't give you what you're not willing to take responsibility for (e.g., if someone wants to be the boss but doesn't want responsibility of it...you will have to work harder responsible for all rather than just yourself).

Matthew 25:14-30

- God gives you what you can handle

- Worrying about what others have / gets you no where.

- You need to compete with yourself. You are your biggest competition.

- Realize eveything that happens to you know is supposed to happen to you. YOu've been built for it but someone else in your situation could die from your life cause they weren't built for it. You didn't start out at age 5 knowing your purpose cause you weren't supposed to. You were specifically designed for YOUR purpose. ...not someone elses.

- GOD IS SMARTER THAN YOU!

- If you're not doing what you're supposed to

Being successful at what you do can make you a lot of money but money will not make you successful. Money is neutral

You should work to remove the hinderances and weights that keep you from doing all you can for Christ (debt, clutter / excess stuff, etc).

Whenever you give, give with a purpose.

When you give to someone else it could revolutionize their life and relationship with God.

If someone didn't tithe and offer you wouldn't benefit from all CCC can now give you.

As the Lord continues to impart those talents, what are you doing with them. Do something with them and you'll get more. So, if you have them do something with it. If you don't realize you have something, even what you have will be taken away.

If you want to do something good, get out of debt!

Debt = doing everything BUT tithing...

It take discipline to get out of debt (and to accomplish most anything worth accomplishing).

Tithing teaches you how to walk in humility, submit to something greater than you and how to be disciplined.

Discipline is the bridge between thought and accomplishment.

Design Tip - Start from Scratch

"When adding accessories to a room, begin with a blank slate. I often clear off the surfaces -- bookshelves, coffee tables, countertops -- and start fresh. First assess the architecture without visual clutter, then inject some colour and personality one piece at a time." -Tamara Robbins Griffith

House Tweaking Home Tour

Okay...so I was just surfing the net, minding my own business and low and behold I stumble upon Dana's blog House Tweaking. So, I click on the "See My House" link and to my surprise I see pictures that absolutely make me swoon...almost even salivate. Even my husband said WOW when he saw some of her pictures...and he's not nearly into interior design as much as I am. So...I hope you love this home tour as much as I did. Enjoy! :-)

These chairs are soooo cool and airy! I wonder where she got them.

The textures and patterns make this room look so interesting; it actually took me a few minutes to move on to look at another picture. Dana's design asthetic is so similar to mine I felt right at home even though I don't live anywhere near her. :-)

It's amazing what the little wall circles do to cozify this powder room. ...and really easy to duplicate on a very small budget.

Okay so this is Dana's guest room / craft room / play room. This room looks so pleasant and relaxing, the only problem she's going to have is getting her guests to GO HOME! :-)

Although Dana says her Master bedroom is a work in progress, it's definitely off to a gorgeous start. The distressed wood adds instant cozy-factor and the "love" script gives it a unique personal touch. Great job Dana! I can't wait to see the final product.

Dana has a ton more pictures so feel free to head on over to House Tweaking for the latest and greatest.
